There are 2 versions of the USB upgrade.  There is the Normal and Slim or Laptop size.  The normal size replaces most all 3 1/2 floppy drives that are the normal PC laptop sizeThe Slim or Laptop size is for replacing drives that are the very thin or laptop sized.
Various cable connectors are available with the Black Box to suit a range of embroidery machines, but the device is sold with one connector.

The Normal sized Floppy to USB is 34 pins with 4 power pins.  However, there are other versions of the Normal size that have 26 pins and do not have separate power pins.

The Embroidery Black Box was introduced to the market around 2008. The device was created to meet market demand for a low-cost alternative to expensive external embroidery machine floppy drive readers.  The device is sold and used around the world.

The Embroidery Black Box is also Made and Developed In The USA and is the only device of its kind Made and Developed In The USA.

The device is the only solution for Toyota embroidery machines besides direct PC connect.

The device can be purchased at http://www.embroiderybids.com/cart/USB-Flash-Reader-Embroidery-Machine-transfer-system.html

This USB Linker to embroidery machines is the ONLY USA made device on the market.  This device also supports more machines than any other similar device on the market.

The distributor of this device claims we will meet or beat any competitors invoice price and or warranty.

Connectors
The Black Box device supports both parallel (8-PTR) and serial (RS232C) interfaces. However, there are various types of connectors depending on the model of embroidery machine. Each connector is for a different type of machine input port.

History and sales
The device works on the following embroidery machines: Barudan, Tajima, SWF, Happy, Toyota
The Floppy to USB drive was created in the early 2000s to replace floppy disks and disk drives which were quickly going into extinction. The Floppy to USB drive was created to be used to replace most every 3 1/2 floppy disk drive in existence.  The Floppy to USB drive can be found worldwide as it is a perfect solution for both American and Japanese type drives.  Other well known drives the Floppy to USB drive replaces are IBM, TEAC, Panasonic, Sony, Citizen, Hitachi, Mitsubishi, NEC.

The connectors available are:

The Floppy to USB is an ideal solution for floppy replacements on machines or equipment that originally did not have the USB technology nor upgradable but, are too expensive to replace.  Some example equipment's are CNC machines, embroidery equipment, analysis tools, hospital equipment, logging devices, etc.

The Floppy To USB upgrade is designed to replace most every 3 1/2 floppy disk drive.  The dimensions should be the same as a regular floppy drive and all the screw mounts should also match up to the existing chassis.

Troubleshooting and Known Issues
Troubleshooting and Known Issues
The drives have jumpers that are preset at the distributorship. If the correct USB-XXXX code is used then the drive will plug right in and work without any issues.  However if the drive and jumpers do not match the original drive settings then to check the PLR Electronics Support Site for the correct settings or any other troubleshooting issues.
The device uses the Tajima DST Embroidery software format.  The designs should follow the standard Tajima Naming convention as mentioned at the Embroidery software formats page.

If the device is causing any issues, first check that all connectors are solidWhen connecting the device to the machine both the machine and the device should be powered off and disconnected from the wall outlet.

Some equipment manufactures decided to produce their own floppy drives or floppy drive housing rather than buying from the major disk drive producers such as IBM or Sony. In these vary rare cases the equipment might have to be slightly modified to accommodate a regular floppy drive. In most every instance, its much cheaper to modify the equipment and upgrade the drive rather than to buy expensive and rare floppy drives that were only made in very short run.
Check the PLR Electronics Support Site for any other troubleshooting issues.

External USB-based Embroidery Design Reader
External USB-based Embroidery File Design Reader

The Embroidery Black Box is a device that reads USB sticks containing embroidery design files. The design files are transferred to embroidery machines via parallel or serial cables connected to the embroidery machine's data input port. The device is distributed by TheEmbroideryWarehouse and can be purchased at EMBAccess. The Black Box is the ideal solution for older embroidery machines without a built-in floppy disk drive. The device is "plug-and-play" in that it requires no software or drivers for installation.

Various cable connectors are available with the Black Box to suit a range of embroidery machines, but the device is sold with one connector.

This device is MADE IN THE USA!
