The Butterfly Embroidery Company is a manufacturer of single-head and multi-head embroidery machines. The Butterfly embroidery machine factory is based out of China with distributors in The Americas. Butterfly is one of the largest embroidery machine companies based in China. The Butterfly machines are manufactured in China but are not built with all Chinese-made parts. For example, the Butterfly machine uses Japanese-made solenoids and Italian-made belts.

Product Lines
Butterfly embroidery machines include units with 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20 and 24 heads. Butterfly has also produced machines with 1, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12 and 15 needles. Butterfly machines with 9 needles were standard in the very early 1990s. 12 needle machines became popular during the mid 1990s. Late 1990s to around 2010 most machines were 12 needles. 15 needle machines are standard now for the single head models.
History and Origin
Butterfly is a global brand manufactured in China by the Shanghai Yah Chong Sewing Machine Corporation which started making household sewing machines in 1919 and began production of embroidery machines in 1990. The company filing date registration for Butterfly USA was on August 1, 1988. TheEmbroideryWarehouse is the distributor of the Butterfly embroidery machines in North, Central and South America as well as Italy.
Software Extensions
Tajima DST (.dst) is the most common software extension for Butterfly software and machines. However, Butterfly uses several other embroidery software formats. Tajima DST is the most common embroidery format found.

The Butterfly B-1201B/T (single head, 12 needle) has been discontinued and in 2012 has been replaced by The Butterfly B-1501B/T
Butterfly B-1501B/T
The Butterfly B-1501B/T is a 15 needle single head embroidery machine. The machine can embroidery caps, flats and tubular goods. The machine can embroider on most anything that embroidery can go on including leather.
The Butterfly website claims The B-1501B/T is a light weight portable industrial sewing machine. The machine is ideal for most all embroidery jobs from large garments to pocket size designs to caps. The machine is ideal for both start ups and existing commercial embroidery shops for both full service embroidery and samples. The machine is portable enough to attend shows yet strong enough to tackle jacket backs, leather goods, etc. This machine will benchmark against again other machine in its class.
The machine has a wide screen Rainbow LCD display and a USB port. The widescreen software development has received collaborations between Rainbow and PLRElectronics, of Fort Worth, Texas.

The Butterfly Quad-1504B/T is four sets of Butterfly B-1501B/T single head embroidery machines (4 sets of 15 needle single heads). The four machines are sold together at a discount and intended to compete against multiheads.
